join us for a hands on workshop where practical skills meet creativity.
In the first half of the session, you’ll learn the essentials of using a sewing machine, from setting it up and mastering key stitches to exploring core sewing techniques.

In the second half, you’ll put your new skills to work by stitching your very own scrunchie. 

All tools and equipment are provided, making this workshop perfect for both beginners and seasoned sewists. You’ll leave with a handmade scrunchie and the confidence to keep creating with a sewing machine.

you'll have the chance to enjoy a complimentary glass of prosecco or a non-alcoholic alternative during the last 15 minutes of the workshop.

 

what you'll need:

Since this is an upcycling workshop, we’ll be repurposing fabric by cutting it to create your scrunchie. You’re welcome to bring your own fabric if you’d like to personalise your project. If you are bringing your own fabric, I recommend choosing an item to rework, for example, clothing you no longer use, a scarf with a print you love, or any fabric you’ve been wanting to repurpose. Please avoid stretch fabrics.

what you'll learn:

  • How to set up and thread a sewing machine

  • How to wind and load a bobbin

  • Basic machine operation and safety

  • Essential stitches (straight stitch, backstitch)

  • Techniques for guiding fabric smoothly while sewing

  • How to cut and prepare fabric for a scrunchie

  • How to sew and assemble a scrunchie from start to finish

 

what to expect:

each participant will have one sewing machine allocated and provided for them. however, if you’d like to learn on your own machine, you’re welcome to bring it along (just let me know in advance via the pre workshop form you will be sent via email.
